Broadway To Baldock is a documentary-meets-reality series, focussing on the goal of Spotlight, a children's drama group, to have a production of Guys And Dolls ready with eighteen rehearsals, spread across six months. The group is run entirely by young people aged 17-19, and the cast comprises children aged 7-15. Footage from each rehearsal is coupled with video diaries by the production team in order to create a unique and in-depth look at these rehearsals.

The first episode was released online on October 31st 2007, and attracted more than 100 viewers in its first week, more than treble what Spotlight had expected. As the series progressed, it settled into an average viewership of 90 people tuning in every week, far surpassing the target figures set by the production team.

With the first series of the show coming to a close, it has now been confirmed that Spotlight are renewing Broadway To Baldock for a second series, due to start in April 2008. The second series will follow the group as they prepare a production of Annie. This time round, the programme will cover the casting, and will feature more interview footage with the cast themselves.
