Olivia Ashcroft was all smiles on Friday 8th June as she took home the title at our first karaoke competition, "Raise Your Voice"! Originally intended to take place at the end of April, the competition finally took place to an intimate audience as eight of Spotlight's members sung their hearts out. Judging panel Mark Finch, Dean Sayer and special guest Nicci Lawrence had to select two of the eleven acts (eight solos, two duets and a group) to be sent through to the final. Based on scores that had been written down in secret after every song, they put through Olivia with 27/30, and William Kitchener on 26/30. The two then had to perform again, and the audience selected a winner by putting their ticket in the corresponding box. Olivia won by just one vote in a tight finale. Her victory means that she will be recording an ORIGINAL song over the next few weeks and releasing it as a CD single at Spotlight and on the website on Friday 13th July. Some of the proceeds from the single will go to Olivia's chosen charity, and the rest to the Guys and Dolls production fund. Watch this space for details!
